The right way to deal with aching teeth

Ever felt your teeth ache when eating ice cream or brushing teeth? It could be that you have sensitive teeth. Come on, treat and prevent tooth ache in the ways below. In sensitive teeth, simple daily activities such as eating, drinking and brushing teeth can cause teeth feel aching. But by detecting the cause, this condition can be overcome.

Why Can Teeth Become Sensitive?

Tooth aches or sensitive teeth are generally caused by erosion of the protective layer of teeth called e-mail or due to exposure of tooth roots. Your teeth become sensitive when the gums open, so the dentin, the underlying layer, is exposed to various stimuli. Dentin consists of the inside of a tooth and roots which are connected to thousands of tiny channels that lead to the tooth nerve. This condition causes exposure to cold, heat, or hard friction can trigger a sense of pain. Other factors that can trigger tooth ache are:
  • Hole in the teeth. Cavities can be a place for bacteria to nest.
  • Side effects of procedures performed at the dentist such as teeth whitening.
  • Inflammation of the gums (gingivitis).
  • Brushing teeth too tight.
  • Plaque buildup.
  • Consumption of foods and drinks that are too acidic.
  • Tooth and gum disease.
  • Cracked teeth.
  • Likes to grit teeth.
  • Age.

Getting Rid of Tooth Pain

Going to the dentist is the first step you can take. Your doctor will detect the cause of your aching teeth based on a history of complaints, the symptoms you convey and the results of the examination. Here are some things that can be a solution:
  • Toothpaste with certain formula specifically for sensitive teeth

  • Some toothpaste can help reduce pain due to sensitive teeth.
  • Flouride

  • Your doctor can smear your sensitive teeth with fluoride and prescribe it for use at home so that it can strengthen tooth enamel and relieve aching teeth.
  • Bind or thicken

  • The exposed root surface of the tooth can be treated with a bonding resin applied to this process which may require local anesthesia.
  • Gum surgery

Being aware of the complexities of sensitive dental care above, you should prevent the condition before it occurs. Here are some ways you can do to prevent toothache.
  • The simplest way is to maintain dental hygiene and health by brushing your teeth twice a day with soft bristles and fluoride toothpaste, also using dental floss every day.
  • Avoid brushing your teeth too often, brushing coarsely, or toothpaste to a degree that can cause tooth decay.
  • Avoid sharpening and grinding teeth which can cause teeth to crack and become sensitive.
  • Limit acidic foods and drinks, such as soft drinks, yogurt, and sour oranges. All of this can erode part of the tooth enamel continuously. Drinking with a straw can reduce this risk.
  • Drink mineral water to normalize acid levels in the mouth after consuming milk or foods and drinks that contain acid.
  • Avoid brushing your teeth immediately after consuming foods and drinks that contain acid. Acid makes tooth enamel softer and easily eroded when brushed.
  • Routinely check dental health to the dentist every 6 months or according to the schedule recommended by the dentist.
Routine care and maintaining dental hygiene are the main keys to preventing sensitive teeth. If you still feel aching teeth after doing some of the tips above, immediately consult your complaints to the dentist.
